Apparently, there was only 1 film produced that has provided us with enough footage of interesting areas of Rome to allow a walking tour to follow. So today we followed along the scenes from the 1953 film Roman Holiday, of which we have not seen.
We started at St Peter's square, which was showing a live presentation of "where is the Pope now?". Today finds his pope-ness in Spain, and would explain why he was unable to meet us for tea. (yeah - like that would be his only reason).
We followed the narrow cobblestone streets of Rome and saw many Italian things: Gelateria, small cars, leather stores, men in Armani suits, Maserati, Ferrari, spaghetti, Gucci, marble marble everywhere and Prada bags.
We walked the Spanish Steps, which are made of Marble, saw the Pantheon made of marble 2000 years ago, and finished at the Trevi fountain built in 1732 of marble, and is still fed by one of Rome's oldest aqueducts, we are guessing also made of marble. Marble cake anyone?
Sounds marbelous!
